The neighboring types
Within the Enneagram framework, a wing is one of the two types next to your core type on the circle. Type 1 neighbors Types 9 and 2; Type 9 neighbors Types 8 and 1. A wing is used to describe a possible influence, rather than a separate personality.
Explore both sides
Read both neighboring descriptions. Which motivations or approaches show up in your life? You may recognize one more strongly, or find both useful in different contexts.
Keep the core in view
A wing can add detail, but it should not be used to explain away every mismatch with a type. If the central motivation does not resonate, explore other core types before adding more labels.
